Like I would ever give out personal information... still, since you asked so nicely, I guess I'll tell you a LITTLE about myself; now, please be so kind as to take the sad puppy dog look off your face -__-;;;

[Interests]:
I'm interested in web designing and html (otherwise this site would not exist); I also like to draw and write stories. I've been drawing ever since I could hold a crayon ^_^ I'm also interested in sculpture, metal crafting, and any kind of art craft. But drawing is my most favorite medium. Also I enjoy reading manga and watching anime. Other than that I like to read, fine tune my plans for world domination *oops wasn't supposed to say that....*, and tae kwon do.

[Fave Books]:
The Lord of the Rings trilogy, and Tolkien's post-humous books, The Simarillion and The War of the Jewels. Also I enjoyed The NeverEnding Story, The Gift of Magic, The Lives of Christopher Chant, The Over Sea and Under Stone books, Arabian Nights, Their Eyes Were Watching God, Night (Wiesel), The Mists of Avalon, A Wrinkle in Time, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe series, Till We Have Faces: A Myth Retold (Lewis), Gone with the Wind, Macbeth, The Merchant of Venice, the Tempest, The Giver, The Lame Little Prince, Grimm's Faerie Tales, and many, many others ^_^.

[Things I dislike]
  • Anime/Manga are just cartoons/comics from Japan
    Yes, I am one of those people who detest anime or manga being called "just cartoons or comics from japan." While it is an easy way to describe it to people unfamiliar with them, it seems that this description is also used to belittle them as art mediums, as well as those who watch or read them. I find the style used for anime and manga is better than that of English cartoons or comics because they are better able to express emotion and feelings, and are in general more interesting. I've seen anime series that had better acting than most of the English movies I've seen! And unlike English cartoons, which are aimed primarily at children, anime can be made for different age groups and be used for serious works. So I don't appreciate them being dismissed as childish, nor do I like to be labelled as childish for liking them simply because people are either ignorant or close minded.

  • Anime/Manga can only be from Japan
    This bothers me as well. I see Anime and Manga as a specific style of drawing and having certain elements to it, and not just pertaining to it being made in a certain geographic location or by a specific ethnic people. That would be like telling me that my way of drawing is not in the style of anime because I am not Japanese. While I admit that some shows imitate anime and manga because they are growing in popularity, that does not mean that a show or book, with obvious inspiration from Anime and Manga and their related themes, created by people, who are not of Japanese ancestry, could not be considered anime or manga. There are clear examples of this, such as the series Avatar: the Last Airbender, which has a distinct Anime style as well as asian themes that commonly occur in various anime series such as asian spirituality (such as Buddhism), elements of nature, style of fighting, and the portrayal of facial expressions; as for manga, the series Megatokyo by Fred Gallagher, and The Castings by Irene Flores and Ashly Raiti (they also made Mark of the Succubus) are great examples of what I consider manga even though they were not made in Japan.

[Anime]:
Anime is one of my most favoritest things in the world ^_^ Unfortunately I am anime deprived o_O But some of my favorites are Shaman King, YU Yu Hakusho, Oh my Goddess!, InuYasha, CardCaptor Sakura, Hikaru no Go, Naruto, and .hack//SIGN. As you can guess by my favorites, I'm into the whole magic genre of anime.
